Mishkin & Duvall, P.C. was founded in 1979 by Sidney Mishkin and was originally known as Mishkin & Associates. Sid Mishkin graduated from Indiana University School of Law in 1962 whereupon he accepted a position as a legal writing teacher at his Alma Mater. After a few years, he decided to use his skills in a more direct way in the legal profession and joined an Indianapolis firm as an Associate in the Litigation Department. Mr. Mishkin eventually took over as the head of that same department. In 1979 he decided that once again he was ready for a new challenge and left the firm that had been his home in order to create Mishkin & Associates. Mr. Mishkin had a vision to concentrate his firm's practice on business litigation and business and real estate transactions.
Eleven years after the firm's inception, Mishkin & Associates found a kindred spirit. In 1990 Lesa Duvall joined the firm as a law clerk while attending law school at Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis. Mr. Mishkin offered Ms. Duvall a full time position as an Associate Attorney upon her graduation. In May of 1992, Ms. Duvall graduated from law school, magna cum laude, and joined the firm as an Associate Attorney. After only one year, Ms. Duvall became a partner in the firm.
Over the years as partners, Mr. Mishkin and Ms. Duvall expanded the firm's practice areas beyond its' original vision to include new areas of practice such as Employment Law and Family Law. With this growth came new challenges. The expansion of the firm's practice areas resulted in the need to expand the firm itself. In 2004, Mishkin & Duvall, P.C. began hiring new Associates and in 2005 moved to its present location on McCrea Street. In 2005, Ms. Duvall became the Managing Partner of Mishkin & Duvall, P.C. Mr. Mishkin is now retired.
